Given that the new year is almost upon us, and that a new year means new members, I thought I'd take this opportunity to welcome all new and returning archers, and to invite you all to sign up for the message board.
I'm Forge, one of the club seniors and one of the resident compound archers (bows with wheels, for you newcomers). I also moderate the forums and can often be found at club training sessions. You may on occasion also find me in the department of molecular biology and biotechnology, where I am about to start work on my PhD.
So, come on in, sign up and introduce yourself. We don't bite, and are looking forward to getting to know all you new people.

Hello to all!
My name is Heather and I am the club's Social Secretary and Publicity Officer for this year. You may reconise me as the one pimping the club, but mostly you'll reconise me as the person trying to drag you all to the pub. (Hopefully I won't have to do too much dragging.)
If you are new to the club and are nervous about meeting new people, feel free to come talk to me and I can help you get settled in. However I think that you will find our other members to be friendly and approchable too.
I'm a second year Philosophy student and I like to shoot compound, though a do have a recurve bow too. When not found at the archery range, I also do some pen and paper roleplaying and I am also on the commitee of the roleplaying society (NoDDSoc).
I am going out with the lovely Forge, who has already introduced himself.
I hope that everyone enjoys our club!

*sigh* I suppose I could fill another introduction. Im the Gibbon (real name Robert...) have kicked around the club for a fair few years now, and appear to have the majority of the clubs male records. I shoot recurve mainly, though I have been known to pick up a compound and play every now and then. Oh. You might not see me much around at sessions this year due both uni work and a job. When I turn up at uni, I am enrolled on a course in mathematics (though I seem to be fairly bad at it ), and im going in to what I hope will be my final year... heres me... ... and before I forget, this year Im on the committee (for a 3rd consecutive year) and this time Im the web and records officer...

Post by Gino on Sept 29, 2007 23:23:47 GMT
Hey new people, my name is Gino (real name Gino) and I'm going to use last years committee page description of me to introduce myself: "Gino is was club secretary last year. Gino, apart from being self-professed club idiot, is the club's dedicated longbow shooter and has been shooting longbow since early 2006. Gino also has a passion for shooting medieval-style pointy arrows and using them to destroy various items, such as pumpkins, tin lids etc.
Vicious rumours have been circulating about Gino. Rumour has it that he is secretly amassing a longbow army in preparation of invading rural parts of Derbyshire (certain aspects of Derbyshire remind Gino of his home country, Wales..). Think very carefully before you ask to try his longbow..!"Generally questions about shooting longbows will be pointed in my direction if I'm nearby and I encourage whoever is interested to try one of my bows (4 longbows and counting) and see what they think. I've been instructed that I am no longer allowed to, ahem, "recruit" members to shooting longbows but I am allowed to answer questions about them I'm a medieval reenactor and archery captain for the Neville Household (a reenactment group, not this club) and occasionaly hold Longbow training sessions for them on sundays which archery club members are welcome to attend. Other than that I'll be around whenever I can but this year I'm doing my Profesional Year on a teacher training course which means I'm going to be pretty busy. I'll be at the range whenever I can. Keep shooting, G. (that was longer than I intended, sorry)

May as well jump on the bandwagon, Hi to people reading this I'm Sarah, if you see a beenie at the club I'm most likly to be the person under it.
I'm a second year Graphic Design student and my three favorite activities would have to be Snowboarding, Painting and Archery. Oh and I'm always up for anything Nintendo. I suppose you could say that I maily shoot recurve, However I was, ahem, "recruited" and I shot longbow in the summer.
I try to be at archery as much as I possible can.

Meh. Bandwagons are fun I'm Chris, i'm the one you'll see wandering around in pretty much pure black. I'm occasionally referred to as Evil Chris, tho thats not a personal choice. I'm currently re-sitting first year Aerospace Engineering due to general ineptitude and am this years Treasurer. So if you need to give people money i'm the person to come to I shoot Olympic style recurve, tho not well. And am attempting to arrange times to shoot around Taekwondo, climbing, re-enactment and passing my course I'm sure there's something else to add too

Hi there. My name's Richard, I signed up at the sports fair last week. I've since lost the dates and whatnot, presumably due to the massive amounts of alcohol consumed during freshers' week. Anyhoo, I saw the times, but I didn't see if there was a specific start date. At some point I'll stop beating around the bush and ask - is it starting tonight, later this week, or later still?
As it transpires, I can be identified by the long hair, decently sized goatee, and predilection for black t-shirts with either a band or film on them...
Regards,
Richard Bradley

Hi, my name is Hallam Steve (AKA Steve). As the nickname suggests, I study at Sheffield Hallam University. I've been shooting recurve in the club for 2 years now and I am also the Hallam Liason. Needless to say I have one of the most interesting bows to look at in the club.
Also i'm from Cardiff, like Gino (not a coincidence, we've known each other for years). When i'm not doing archery, i'm probably rockclimbing. I live with Slacky Bob and Cliff in the house of awesomeness, where you must be above a certain level of awesome to get in.

I suppose I should introduce myself now! I'm Ian (definitely not Allen) and I'm club captain this year and hence allegedly in charge... This is my second year in the archery club, although I've been in Sheffield since dinosaurs roamed the earth. Sort of. I'm in the third (and supposedly final) year of my PhD in chemical engineering. I shoot recurve with my rather green Samick Agulla. You'll have to excuse my shocking memory for names and faces, so don't be confused when I ask your name for the frillionth time! I hope you all have a great time with the club and I'll see you down the range soon
